Lenawee
County
Lenawee
County was created in 1822 from Monroe County,
including a portion claimed by Ohio. In 1826 the county was organized,
with its seat established at Tecumseh. When Michigan became a state in
1837, the boundary dispute was settled in favor of Ohio. In 1838, the
seat was changed to Adrian.
