Research outside home

Where are some of the places you can go to research your family?

  • Cemeteries. Tombstones can yield information about births and deaths.
  • Courthouses. Records of births, deaths, and marriages as well as information about land purchases and other matters may be found in courthouses.
  • Libraries. Genealogical collections in libraries include books and original records.

Make sure that you've prepared for your trip by organizing what you already know about your family and deciding on your research goals. Check on directions and the hours facilities are open before starting on your research trip.
